State Tax

Tax Rep Founder Eric Green interviewed about the new Connecticut Bill to Make Tax Preparer's Liable

If you were not aware, the State of Connecticut has a senator that proposed a bill that would make tax preparers strictly liable for any mistake they make by having the preparer bare the cost of amending the tax return, and make them liable for the tax, interest amd penalty.   It is Proposed Senate Bill 814. There are of course issues with this, in particulare the issue of the tax and interest.  Currently, the courts will hold a preparer responsible for the damages they cause, meaning the cost of amending the return and the penalties incurred by the taxpayer.  The tax and the interest belongs to the taxpayer, who after all had use of their money. Many outlets reached out to Attorney Green for his comments, which can be watched here.
